December Demo - Winter Warriors Get to Work
In December, we kicked off this incredible Central Oregon remodel - there’s no better feeling than rolling up your sleeves and diving into the work that will improve how this family enjoys and lives in their home. There's something satisfying about swinging sledgehammers when it's cold outside - keeps everyone warm!
Winter Demo Begins
We work all year and beginning demo work in December is not a problem. Winter provides us with the perfect opportunity to tackle the indoors knowing we’ll be able to focus on the outdoors as the weather conditions improve.
Large-Scale Interior Demo
We began by removing sheetrock in all the spaces that needed reconfiguring. This is always an exciting phase because you can finally see the new layout starting to emerge. It’s during this phase that homeowners might see their walls coming down and think “what have we gotten ourselves into?” - but this is an essential step for creating the modern rustic farmhouse masterpiece we’re building.
The Behind-the-Scenes Work You Don’t See
While the demolition was happening, we worked through the logistics of our electrical plan. We carefully coordinated every system that will make this home function for decades to come - as we tear things down. Getting the electrical planning right during the demo is an important step that saves countless headaches later.
We also began setting up to reframe the interior spaces which also requires precision planning and coordination with our electrical work. Once we start reframing, there's no going back. Every measurement, every system location needs to be perfect from day one.
Exterior Prep
The exterior work is just as crucial. We removed the existing rotting deck and siding that needed to come down. This removal was necessary for us to start excavation for the front entry remodel and garage addition. We budget extra time for this phase because you never know what you'll find once you start peeling back layers from the 90s.
During this controlled demolition phase, every piece that needed to go was carefully removed - making way for something much better.
